Yeast Doughnuts Recipe

These light and fluffy yeast doughnuts are ideal for breakfast or as a sweet treat at any time of day. The dough is simple to make and yields a light and airy doughnut that is sure to impress.

  • Prep Time: 30 minutes
  • Cook Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 50 minutes

Instructions

  • Allow yeast to dissolve in warm water for 5 minutes.
  • Warm milk, sugar, salt, egg, and melted butter should all be combined in a separate bowl.
  • Stir the yeast mixture into the milk mixture.
  • Mix in the flour until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for 5 minutes on a floured surface.
  • Cover the dough with a damp towel in a greased bowl.
  • Allow the dough to rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  • Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch.
  • Make doughnuts out of the dough.
  • Allow doughnuts to rise for 30 minutes, covered.
  • In a large pot, heat the oil to 375°F.
  • Fry the doughnuts in batches for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  • Remove the doughnuts from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to cool.
