Bavarian Cream Donuts Recipe

These sweet and creamy Bavarian Cream Donuts are ideal for breakfast or dessert.

  • Cook Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 40 minutes

Instructions

  • Dissolve the yeast in the warm water in a large mixing bowl and set aside for 5 minutes.
  • Warm milk, sugar, salt, melted butter, egg, and 2 cups flour are all added.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Add the remaining flour gradually until the dough comes together and is smooth.
  • Allow the dough to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  • Punch the dough down and roll it out to a 1/2-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  • Cut out donut shapes with a donut cutter and place them on a floured surface for 30 minutes to rise again.
  • Heat the oil to 375°F in a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pot.
  • Place the donuts in the hot oil, one at a time, until golden brown on both sides, about 1-2 minutes per side.
  • Remove the donuts from the oil and drain on a plate lined with paper towels.
  • Fill a piping bag with Bavarian cream and insert it into the side of each donut, filling them with cream.
  • Serve immediately with powdered sugar on top.
