Christmas Glazed Donuts with Red and Green Sprinkles Recipe
These Christmas Glazed Donuts with Red and Green Sprinkles are the ideal festive holiday treat. The soft and fluffy donuts are topped with a sweet glaze and colorful sprinkles. They are simple to make and are sure to please everyone at your holiday gathering.
Ingredients
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- sprinkles in red and green
- Two large eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2/3 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 3-4 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Cook Time: 12 minutes
- Total Time: 27 minutes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cooking spray should be used to grease a donut pan.
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg in a medium mixing bowl.
- Whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
- Stir together the wet and dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fill each mould about 2/3 full with batter from the prepared donut pan.
- Bake the donuts for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Allow the donuts to cool for 5 minutes in the pan before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
- Immediately dip each donut in the glaze and top with red and green sprinkles.
- Before serving, allow the glaze to set.
