Apricot Jam Donuts Recipe

Instructions
- Combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Mix in the warm milk, melted butter, and egg until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes on a lightly floured surface, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and set aside for 1 hour to rise in a warm place.
- Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut the dough into circles with a 3-inch round cutter.
- In the centre of each circle, place a small dollop of apricot jam.
- Fold the dough's edges over the jam, pinching to seal.
- Cover and leave the donuts to rise for another 30 minutes on a lightly floured surface.
- Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat to 350°F.
- Fry the donuts for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown, a few at a time.
- Remove the donuts with a slotted spoon and drain on a plate lined with paper towels.
- Before serving, dust the donuts with powdered sugar.
